meditations
Improvising at the piano is one of Calderone's favorite pastimes. Although being far from a professional, he regularly relies on a structural meditation to act as a foundation upon which to build that moment's meditation. These simple tunes lead to unique soundscapes that feel as familiar as they do novel. They are not intended to be used for performance, but instead are guides for moments to meditate (hence the name).

Holding Perspective- Vision
Scored for a string chamber ensemble with piano, "Holding Perspective" was designed to coincide with the visual artwork by the same name. Featuring assuredly dark and overlapping colors, the cyclical music elicits the sense of soft, moving shapes.

Into the Forest
Scored for a string chamber ensemble, the piece is the first place where Calderone explored the technique of weaving voices inside dissonance. This was intended to be an introduction to a larger work, which he has not yet explored.

soon.
Originally written as a piano solo meditation, Calderone ultimately scored this piece for SATB, divisi. The music reflects the endless searching amid depression and life's turmoil, featuring the aural plea "these thoughts will fade away soon". Changes have been made to the score since this recording.
