BIOGRAPHY
In 2022, Calderone earned a Bachelors of Music Education summa cum laude from Valparaiso University, where he was awarded membership to Pi Kappa Lambda. While at university, Calderone collaborated on many artistic projects including as a logistics assistant and graphic designer for the VU Center for the Arts. He began teaching at Bremen--a small, rural community about 30 minutes southeast of South Bend, Indiana--in the same year, where he currently serves as the vocal music director. Alongside directing two MS ensembles, a beginning HS mixed choir, and two advanced chamber choirs (SSAA, and SATB), he teaches piano, theatre, and electronic music.
His charismatic passion saw the choir program double its membership in just three years, and it continues to thrive and grow. Calderone brings an eclectic skillset to his classrooms: a powerful public speaker, and years of experience as a landscaper, videographer, photographer, graphic designer, and hobbyist composer make his classroom environment equally inviting and electric. His students develop an appreciation for camaraderie and collaboration, community service, as well as emotionally challenging music performance that is rich in expression and strives for excellence. He frequently collaborates with local musicians in his performances, including the Bremen Children's Choir, and he regularly performs in a local quintet, as well as a tenor soloist throughout the community. Calderone's philosophical approach to music education balances radiant vision with realism, working with his students to stitch together memorable thematic programs for families, audiences, and performers alike.
