Enjoyment in Company

A hand and a hand
pressed
against an opaque pane of jet-black glass.
The glass is not unique in its
fragility
—a quality well-possessed by both—
yet neither can see past its blockading complexion to
know
if the other is there.

But in absence of sight,
they rely instead on the subtle transfer of quiet
heat.
A pause about them escapes, within which is the
gentlest of caring nods.
Gentle, to the core, still
as the hand is taken away.
